Safety on GoMeetMe

GoMeetMe is live, one-to-one video with real people, and the vast majority of conversations are exactly what they should be — friendly, fun and gone by morning. This page is the short version of how to keep it that way: the tools you have, the habits worth building and the few situations where you should act fast.

Two things before the list. First, none of this is meant to scare you — most people you meet here are perfectly decent. Second, every tool on this page takes under ten seconds to use. When in doubt, use it.

18+ only

GoMeetMe is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it — no exceptions, no workarounds. If you suspect somebody on the platform is under 18, report the account immediately and stop the conversation. Underage reports jump the review queue, and confirmed underage accounts are removed.

Report inappropriate behavior

Harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual pressure, anything illegal — report it, don't argue with it. Use the report button in the call or on the person's profile, pick the closest reason and add a line of context. Reporting is anonymous: the other person is never told who flagged them.

Block users

Blocking is instant, silent and complete. The person can't call you, message you or see you online again, and they aren't notified. You never owe anybody a reason for blocking them — “I wasn't feeling it” is a complete and valid explanation.

Do not send money

Never send money, gift cards, crypto or anything of value to somebody you met here — not for an emergency, not for a ticket to come visit, not for any reason at all. People you've just met online don't ask for money; scammers do it for a living. If somebody asks, that's the whole conversation: hang up and report the account.

Keep private information private

Take your time before sharing anything that identifies you outside the app: your home or work address, bank or card details, ID documents, even your full name and employer. A first name and a face are plenty for a first conversation. Anybody who pushes hard for personal details early is telling you something — listen to it.

Be cautious about off-platform requests

Be skeptical when a brand-new match urgently wants to move you to another app, a private site or a different service. That move is the opening step of most scams and sextortion schemes, because it takes the conversation somewhere we can't protect you. There's no rush — if somebody is genuinely into you, they'll still be there tomorrow.

Consent & respect boundaries

Live video works because both people want to be there. Ask before you escalate anything, take “no” at face value and never pressure somebody into showing, saying or doing more than they offer. Recording, screenshotting or sharing somebody else's image or call without permission is strictly against our rules — and in many places, against the law.

Leave a call anytime

You can end any call at any moment, for any reason, without explaining yourself. Bored, uncomfortable or just done — all equally valid. Nobody on GoMeetMe is entitled to more of your time than you want to give. The fastest way out of a bad conversation is the hang-up button, and it always works.

Report suspicious accounts

Some accounts never misbehave openly but still feel wrong — photos that look like a modeling portfolio, replies that don't quite track, a person who dodges every live interaction. Trust that instinct and report the profile. Our review team can check signals you can't see from the outside, like device patterns and account history.

Need help?

The fastest route is inside the app: open the person's profile or the call screen, tap Report, choose the reason that fits best and add a sentence or two of context. Reports go to a real review team, and the urgent ones — minors, threats, money requests — are handled first. If a conversation leaves you shaken, block first and report second; the order doesn't matter.

Every report is read by a human reviewer, not a keyword filter. Depending on what we find, the outcome can be anything from a warning to a permanent ban — and serious cases, like minors or credible threats, are escalated beyond the platform when the law calls for it. You won't always hear back about a specific report, but every single one changes what our team can see.

For the fine print on how the platform is run, read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. And one last thing: these tools only work if people use them — if something felt off, say so. The account that made you uncomfortable is probably talking to somebody else right now.
