Privacy Policy

Introduction

This policy explains what information GoMeetMe collects when you use our website and apps, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run a live video service and keep it safe, we don't sell your personal information, and you can ask us to delete your data.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up we collect the basics: your display name, your age or date of birth (GoMeetMe is 18+ and we use this to check eligibility), your gender and any profile photos you choose to upload. If you sign in through a third party such as Google or Apple, we receive the profile details that provider shares with us.

Usage data

We log how the service is used: which features you open, when you're online, your matches, and your calls — time and duration, not content. Reports and blocks you make or receive are also recorded, because they're how we enforce the rules.

Device and technical data

We collect your IP address, device model, operating system, browser type, language, app version and crash logs. Your IP address gives us an approximate region, which we use for matching and localization — we don't pinpoint your precise location.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar identifiers to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. More on that below.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • run the service — match you with people, connect calls, deliver messages;
  • keep the platform safe — enforce the 18+ rule, investigate reports, detect fraud and fake accounts;
  • fix and improve the product, using aggregated usage patterns;
  • communicate with you about your account when it's necessary;
  • meet legal obligations when they apply.

We do not sell your personal information.

Video & chat content

One-to-one video calls on GoMeetMe are private conversations between the two people in them. They are not broadcast, not published to any feed and not used for advertising, and we do not record the content of your private calls. The exception is safety: when a user files a report, the material attached to it — screenshots the reporter provides, call metadata and related messages — is retained while our trust & safety team investigates. Chat messages are stored so they can be delivered and so we can act on reports.

Cookies & analytics

Beyond sign-in cookies, we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages get visited and how people find us. This data is aggregated: it tells us “this page gets traffic”, not “you specifically did this”. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but sign-in and core features will stop working if you do.

Data sharing

We share personal information only in these cases:

  • Service providers — hosting, CDN, analytics and payment partners that process data on our behalf, under contract, and only get what they need to do their job.
  • Legal and safety — when the law requires it, or when it's necessary to protect our users. Reports involving minors may be escalated to the relevant authorities.
  • Business transfers — if GoMeetMe is ever merged or sold, user data moves with the service under this same policy.

Data retention

We keep your account information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period. Some records — report evidence, ban records, payment logs — are kept longer where the law requires it or where they're needed to stop banned users from coming back, and only for as long as that takes.

Your rights

You can access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, and delete your account and data. Most of this is self-service in the account settings inside the app; for anything else, reach us through the contact options inside the app and we'll respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply — we honor them as the law requires.

Children's privacy

GoMeetMe is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it. If you suspect an account is underage, please report it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top always shows the current version, and we'll give notice inside the app before a material change takes effect.
